A few weeks ago we were having friends over for dinner and it seemed like the perfect opportunity to try this cake. Everything was going so well… the cake baked beautifully, the hot fudge and marshmallow cream went on easily and it only needed to be toasted in the oven for a minute. Well, good friends mean good conversation and one minute turned into one too many minutes. When I opened the oven, the cake was not merely burned. It was on fire… the whole top was on fire. A few good puffs from Jon extinguished the fire, but the cake was really black. We scraped off the burned layer and ate away. I couldn’t let it go and re-made the cake a week or so later with much better results.
